Welcome to the world of classic video game horror.

This website will guide you through three major franchises that have made a significant impact on both the video game industry, and left an impression on me growing up. You will notice that these three series of games all originated in the 90s and early 2000s, a time when horror was still finding its foundational footing. Video games can be a very immersive form of entertainment, requiring some level of interaction from players. This requirement of interaction can lead to some of the best scares. I believe these three series left major impacts on the horror genre of video games.

Often credited with popularizing the surivial horror genre, Resident Evil popularized fixed camera angles, resource/inventory management, and a mix of puzzle-solving and action combat. On the other hand, you have Silent Hill. Known for its psychological horror, deep narrative, and atmospheric design, it focused on character-driven storytelling and exploration of themes like guilt and trauma. If you want the best of both worlds, you have Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Renowned for its unique approach to psychological horror, Eternal Darkness combines both a complex narrative that examines Lovecraftian themes, while also introducing innovative gameplay mechanics.
